Approved by Shanghai municipal government, "Shanghai Institute of CleanTech Innovation (ICT Innovation)", jointly initiated by the people's government of Songjiang district and Shanghai Advanced Research Institute (SARI), Chinese Academy of Sciences, and led by Professor Yuhan Sun of SARI, was included in the second batch of Shanghai R&D and transformation functional platform. Shanghai municipal government will arrange funds to support the construction and operation of the platform. Recently, Shanghai Science and Technology Venture Capital Co., Ltd and Shanghai Science and Technology Commission have allocated the first batch of non-investment construction funds and platform operation and maintenance funds.
In October 2017, the people's government of Songjiang district and SARI, Chinese academy of sciences jointly established Shanghai Curui Low-Carbon Energy Technology Co., Ltd., which was set as the project operation and management unit of ICT Innovation. At present, Shanghai Curui Low-Carbon Energy Technology Co., Ltd. is in the process of capital and equity increase, and will fully enter the platform construction and incubation service of low-carbon technology, and will also contribute to the low-carbon development in Yangtze river delta integration.
The R&D cycle for low-carbon energy technology is long, and it also needs huge funds. It's difficult to complete the pilot plant test, concept verification and engineering and system integration for universities and research institutions. To solve this problem, ICT Innovation is open to the low-carbon technologies like low carbonization of fossil energy, recycling of carbon dioxide and decarbonization of renewable energy, and it's value-oriented with "openness, public welfare and sustainability". ICT Innovation will build support systems for low-carbon technologies, break through core generic technologies, provide common services such as evaluation and R&D of energy catalytic material, engineering simulation and concept verification, simulation design, pilot plant test amplification and technical solutions.
The platform will cooperate closely with the Yangtze River Delta and related research institutions at home and abroad, especially with SARI and ShanghaiTech University, as well as relevant research institutes, universities and industrial groups in Shanghai. It is committed to the evaluation and R&D of energy catalytic materials, pilot plant test and engineering simulation, technical solutions and other services and incubation, and mainly focuses on the services for low carbon technology engineering before and after the pilot plant test demonstration and incubation. It could promote the formation of several low carbon technology companies and generate significant economic benefits. At the same time, ICT innovation will conduct research on low-carbon green technologies and solutions, especially low-carbon metropolitan areas related to the integration of the Yangtze river delta, and strive to become a first-class R&D and transformation platform for low-carbon conversion technologies.
